Bio

Born in West Texas in 1967, Wendy Layne was inspired to paint from an early age. Her father was an auto body repairman and painter who would not have called himself an artist although he was a skilled craftsman. Her mother, a talented artist who could have earned a living from her beautiful landscape paintings if it had not been for the time consuming joy of raising 10 children.

Although she was encouraged and guided by her mother, Wendy herself received no formal artistic education. With such a passion for creativity it would seem that Wendy would naturally follow a career pursuit in the Arts, however finding herself struggling to make ends meet as a single parent in her mid-twenties, she was forced to make difficult decisions as far as a career path. No matter which job choice she would accept, each of her endeavors seemed to end up pointing in the area of artistic design. By 2002 she incorporated her business which encompassed a vast array of skills, offering graphic design, logo and company branding, website design, watercolor portraits, collage, and custom artwork with various mediums including oil, acrylic, pen and ink,
pastel, charcoal and pencil.

More recently, while photographing images for her artwork, Wendy realized her natural talent and love for photography and has since included original photographs in her gallery. In her own words, "Photography is the art of capturing beauty and art is the beauty of creating. When I take a photograph and then paint it, I have a hard time choosing my favorite as I see beauty in both." Wendy plans to launch a new collection of art, which will encompass both photography and watercolor as a single piece. Wendy currently lives and paints in her home studio in The Woodlands, Texas.
